Friends of the Fire Locker

The Town of Lewiston is located in the westernmost portion of Niagara County. The town is bounded by the Lower Niagara River to the west; the City of Niagara Falls, Town of Niagara and Town of Wheatfield to the south; the the Town of Cambria to the east; The Town of Wilson to the northeast; and the Town of Porter to the north. Buffalo is a 30 minute drive to the south. Rochester is 90 minutes east and Toronto, Ontario, Canada is one-hour forty-five minutes to the north. Sixty-two percent of the Canadian and fifty percent of the U.S. population reside within a 500-mile radius of Lewiston.

Historical Facts
The Town of Lewiston was organized on February 27, 1818. The Town of Lewiston area was originally controlled by the French, later by the British and ultimately became a part of the United States. Due to it's position as the gateway to westward expansion, Lewiston figured prominently in the early development of the United States. The upper part of the escarpment is the permanent home of the Tuscarora Indian Nation. The Tuscaroras arrived in the area in 1713 from North Carolina.
